Chapter 7

So, this short story is dedicated to Carey Anne and the ladies who were in on my Zoom call, Clo, Aileen, Emma, Consuelo, Alyscia, Trina, Brier Lynn and Krida. It will be a drabblish story, with shorter chapters. Shorter chapters mean quicker updates! :-)

This is not mine. I don’t own Twilight, but I wish I did. Sigh …

In case you weren’t aware, this is happening just prior to the pandemic. So, early March 2020. Up next will be their departure for their trip to São Paulo.

Chapter Seven

March 7th, 2020

Bella sat in her bedroom. It was a complete disaster. Her bags were opened, but no clothes were inside. She didn’t know what to bring. She never had this problem before. Then, again, she’d never traveled with anyone. She only traveled on her own. She never had a need to impress anyone.

Yes, she brought some sexy clothes for a night out, but this trip was different.

Edward was her boyfriend.

He’d seen her naked. His tongue had invaded her pussy, tasting her from the inside. His cock pounded her relentlessly. They’d truly traded bodily fluids (after a clear STD screening).

Because of the fact that Edward was her boyfriend, she didn’t know how to pack. Her usual fare of distressed jeans, t-shirts and flip flops seemed inappropriate. She probably needed some sexy lingerie or a new wardrobe. Life was so much easier when she traveled on her own. This whole boyfriend thing was weirding her out.

Though, a regular snuggle buddy and having someone outside of her book boyfriends was pretty freaking awesome.

Picking up her cell phone, she dialed her neighbor. Alice could help her. She always knew what to do. Years of experience and wisdom put Bella at ease. Thankfully, Alice dropped everything, scuttling over to Bella’s apartment.

With a surgical mask on her face.

“What is that?” Bella asked, arching a brow. “Did you become a doctor in the twenty feet between our apartments?”

“Haven’t you heard of this new virus? Corona or whatever?” Alice asked. “Sounds like a beer.”

“Corona is a beer,” Bella snorted. “A tasty beer, best served with limes while on the beach.”

“Isabella,” Alice chided. “I’m being serious. This virus is scaring me. Turn on the news.”

“It’s probably nothing, Miss Alice,” Bella replied soothingly. “It’ll blow over in a couple of weeks.”

“I don’t know. There are a lot of cases in Seattle,” Alice sighed, taking off her mask. “I’m worried about you traveling. Why don’t you and your beau postpone? Go over the summer!”

“It’ll be too cold,” Bella replied. “We’re hitting late summer/early autumn now, traveling to the southern hemisphere. Our summer is their winter. We’ll be fine.” She sat down in the center of her bags, scowling at them. “I need help, Miss Alice. Normally, when I travel, it’s me. Now? I have a boyfriend and … I don’t know what to pack.”

“I can’t talk you out of not going?” Alice frowned. “What if they close the borders? You can’t fly home?”

“Nonrefundable tickets,” Bella said.

“Well, in that case, don’t bring much. If I were going with Edward, who is really hot, by the way, I’d want to be naked. All the time. Bring your diaphragm and a bikini,” Alice nodded.

“A diaphragm?” Bella asked.

“Birth control?” Alice hissed conspiratorially, with a firm nod. “I know that you don’t want to have babies. At least, not yet. Though, you and Edward would make beautiful children.”

“Yeah, I get the shot. I just had my appointment with my OB/GYN yesterday to get it done,” Bella snickered. “I’m in the clear for three months. Anyway, I think I need to bring more than just a bikini. I’m leaving in two days, Miss Alice.”

“Let me see what you’ve got,” Alice snickered, getting up. She rooted around in Bella’s closet, tossing out some clothes. “You’ve got some really cute stuff, Bella. We can probably get away with using what’s in your closet rather than go shopping.”

“You’re really freaked out about this virus,” Bella frowned.

“People are saying it’s like a glorified cold, but people are dying from this thing,” Alice whispered. “One of my friends, she caught this thing. She’s in the ICU, hooked up to a breathing machine. It doesn’t look good, Bella. It’s worse for people who are old or who have compromised immune systems, like me.”

“Miss Alice, you’re perfectly healthy,” Bella argued.

“I’m not, sweet girl. I’ve got high blood pressure, diabetes and arthritis,” Alice explained. “The first two are indicators of a more serious Corona case or whatever. I’m really scared, Bella. What if … something happens to me? And, you’re not here. You’re my rock, Bella.”

“Hey,” Bella said, getting up and putting her arms around her tiny neighbor. “It’s going to be okay. Nothing will happen to you or me. I promise you that.”

“You can’t make that promise,” Alice sighed, pulling back, and taking Bella’s face in her hands. “I do love your optimism, though.” She kissed Bella’s forehead. “I also love you, sweetheart.”

“I love you, too, Miss Alice,” Bella smiled, squeezing Alice’s hand.

“Now, let’s get you decked out for this trip. I may not want you to go, but you need look beautiful for your beau,” Alice laughed.

“Bella, I’m heading to your apartment. I had a late meeting,” Edward said. “Do you have your bags packed? Your passport?”

“Yes, dear,” Bella laughed. “It’s all good, Edward. I’m just packing up my computer and camera. I’ll see you in a bit, okay?”

“Okay,” Edward grinned, ending the call. He scowled at the traffic, preventing him from getting to his girl.

The late meeting was with the management team. With the virus that was spreading through the city, there needed to be some changes to the gyms to ensure patron safety. So, Edward scrambled to type up the new rules and sharing them with his gym managers. He was panicking that this virus would impact the gyms, but Emmett said that he could handle whatever came his way. Edward’s right hand, Jacob Black, had the administrative powers while Edward was out of town.

He prayed that everything would blow over, but a lump in his gut told him otherwise. Thankfully, the gyms were in a good place, making a huge profit. If things would close down, which was how the climate of this virus was leaning, they could manage to pay their employees for a year. Plus, the online training sessions had become surprisingly popular. It was still a way for the trainers to still rack in the bucks.

Don’t focus on the negative, Cullen.

Parking on the street, he jogged up to Bella’s apartment building. He used the code she’d given him to enter the building. He rode up to her floor, walking to her door. He knocked quietly. The door was thrown open and Bella was on the other side, smiling. Her sunny grin made his worries disappear. He took her face in his hands, kissing her deeply.

“That was some greeting,” Bella giggled against his mouth. “Eager to see me?”

“Always, beautiful,” Edward said. “You ready to go?”

“Yeah,” Bella nodded. “Miss Alice helped me pack. I apologize for her overzealous packing skills.” She stepped inside, grimacing at the two large bags just inside the door. “I can normally just pack in a large backpack, but I got a bit paranoid. I’ve never gone on a trip with a boyfriend. Hell, you’re the first boyfriend I’ve had since high school. I’m terrified I’m mucking it up.”

“You’re not,” Edward replied soothingly. “I don’t want to cause you any undue stress. We can …”

“No, we’re going,” Bella interrupted. “I’ve been to Brazil. Rio, specifically. I’ve never been to São Paulo. I’m excited.”

“Well, let’s drive to my place. The alarm will go off before you know it,” Edward laughed.

“Have you eaten?” Bella asked.

“Shit, no,” Edward laughed. “My meeting lasted longer than I anticipated, and I worked through lunch and dinner. We can pick something up on the way back to my apartment.”

“I can cook something,” Bella offered.

“My fridge was emptied out because of our trip,” Edward chuckled. “I only have bottled water and booze. That doesn’t make for a delicious meal, unless you want to get sloshed.”

“Um, no,” Bella snorted. “Let’s just go through a drive through.”

“Sounds good to me,” Edward laughed. He picked up one of the bags while Bella slung her carry-on/purse over her head and grabbed her other suitcase. Leaving a light on in the kitchen, they left her apartment. She locked up and they walked down the hallway.

A door opened and Alice stepped out, with another mask on her face. “I was hoping to catch you before you left,” Alice breathed. She handed Bella a bag. “A Corona gift bag …”

“Miss Alice,” Bella chided.

“Shhh! Put this old woman’s mind at ease,” Alice retorted. “Some disinfected wipes, hand sanitizer and a package of masks.”

“How did you find these, Miss Alice?” Edward asked. “I tried to order some for my franchise of gyms, and they’re all sold out. Everywhere!”

“I have connections,” Alice snickered. “It’s not a lot, but it’s something. I’d prefer you not go, but if you’re going, I want you both to be safe.”

“Thank you, Miss Alice,” Bella replied, taking the bag, and giving her a hug. “I’ll call you when we get settled. We’re four hours ahead of you.”

“Love you, sweet girl,” Alice breathed, trailing her gnarled fingers down Bella’s cheek.

“Love you, too, Miss Alice.” She leaned forward, kissing her cheek. She put her arms around her friend and adoptive grandmother before leaving the apartment building.

They drove to Edward’s apartment, picking up some Chinese. They enjoyed their meal, followed by enjoying each other’s bodies. Early the next morning, they got up and took the car service that Edward arranged to take them to the airport. They ate breakfast and settled at the gate.

An hour later, they were on their first leg of the journey, flying to Dallas/Fort Worth, then Miami, before continuing to São Paulo.

Eighteen hours later, they arrived and shuffled to customs. Bella navigated the airport like a pro, following Bella like a lost puppy. He was jetlagged. He hadn’t been able to sleep on the plane, which Bella did after they’d left Miami.

“How are you able to function?” Edward asked, pouting adorably.

“Seasoned traveler, babe,” Bella laughed. “Once we get to the resort, we can get some sleep and then we can explore, hmmm?”

“I don’t want to waste any time,” he frowned. “We’re here and it’s beautiful. I want …”

“I’d rather waste today and do more tomorrow,” Bella interrupted. “If you push it too far today, you’ll be worthless for the whole trip. Take it from me, Edward.”

“Okay, okay,” he conceded.

They walked to customs, making their way through the line. With it being so early, customs was nearly abandoned. Once through customs, they walked to the exit. Waiting at the curb was a black limo with a driver holding a sign with Edward’s last name on it. With a heavy accent, the driver introduced himself as Nahuel. He loaded up their luggage and drove them to the resort, Chez Louis on the beach of São Paulo.

“You’re already checked in, Senhor Cullen,” Nahuel said, pulling up to an extravagant, but beautiful villa. They’d driven past the main resort to this smaller building overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and had a private infinity pool. “Your reserved villa is ready for you.”

“Thank you,” Edward yawned, nearly falling out of the limo. He held Bella’s hand, wishing that he could just magic himself into bed.

“Is there anything else you need?” Nahuel asked, after he’d unloaded their luggage just inside of the villa.

Edward didn’t reply. He was struggling keeping his eyes open. Bella giggled, kissing Edward’s cheek. “Can we get some breakfast delivered?” she asked.

“What would you like?”

“Something light. Fresh fruit, yogurt, maybe some pastries?” she suggested. “No coffee, though. Perhaps hot tea?”

“I’ll put the order in,” Nahuel smiled, his teeth blindingly white against his tanned, golden skin.

“Here,” Bella said, handing him a fistful of Brazilian real as a tip. “Thank you for picking us up and for getting our breakfast.”

“My pleasure,” Nahuel nodded, bowing his head briefly. He turned on his heel, leaving the villa.

“Come on, Edward. Let’s take a quick shower before crashing,” Bella chuckled.

“Of course, babe,” Bella giggled. “I need to wash off the stench of plane of my body. Then, we’ll eat breakfast and crash.”

“You’re not going to crash, are you?” he asked, yawning widely.

“I’ll probably do some blogging while my hair dries,” Bella answered. “Then, I’ll sleep with you.”

“Naked?” he cajoled, waggling his brows.

“Anything for you, Edward,” she said, reaching up to her toes and kiss his lips tenderly. “Good thing I like you, Cullen.”

“I more than like you,” Edward breathed, picking her up and carrying her into the bathroom.

A/N: They’re in São Paulo … the travel ban hasn’t started yet. We’ll have some schmexy times and explore their time at the resort.
