TME's game reviews @emerald
AT:Pirates of the Enchiridion

The scene opens up to show TME while he was busy playing some games and noticed the readers.

"Oh hello everyone, welcome to my first ever game review corner, I am going to be reviewing many games, mainly Switch games for awhile and figured I should give my own thoughts and stuff on them and this could help me when I start a youtube channel, I have one already, its with Samurai Jack: Battle through time but given how copyright and stuff pretty much got that secret ending taken down… well figured I could do this as a middle ground so to speak and try and mix Youtube with Fanfiction of sorts… but that is for a later date… for now enjoy my review of Adventure time: Pirates of the Enchiridion for Switch!" TME said as he moved out of the way of a screen so many could see the details of the game in question.

Adventure time Pirates of the Enchiridion (Switch version) (2021 review):

Pros: Adventure time game in the palm of your hands

Easy to pick up and play, go for attack and health upgrades first then spread the upgrades out and go for specials last when you can

Not as bad as I heard with frame rate and stuff, sure it dips here or there but no real issues with actual combat, just overworld issues like when things load in

Finn, Jake, BMO, and Marceline are playable characters in the game

Cons: Framerate can make a quest like Kraken hunting an issue when the game locks up for half a second or so, making you miss finishing that quest earlier then intended.

No fast travel so getting from Island to Island can be a chore since picking up crates and finishing quests can be a hassle in long term sailing

Final boss has an issue where it may freeze if you kill him in the wrong way so try and be patient, a simple reset fixed things so I was able to beat him

No skipping cutscenes you already saw, for repeat playthroughs, expect your brain to turn off if you want to replay the game, take a long break before playing again.

The Audio in cutscenes are oddly dulled down somewhat… not sure if that is a thing to say but I had to turn the volume up in cutscenes and down out of them.

ONLY Finn, Jake, BMO, and Marceline are playable, no other characters join your fights, its those four and those four only even if you have Bubblegum with you for a time and the occasional Candy Kid and penguins during search and help missions.

Finally for the condensed cons, the side quests, though nice, can be tedious, they are few in number but will take you to the edge of Ooo and back to complete them and its only until you get to near the end of the game to complete them… more in detailed review

Detailed review: The Adventure time Game Pirates of the Enchirion is a great game in of itself, however make no mistake this game is not a 10 out of 10.

For starters like I mentioned above, some quests can be tedious, for example the Candy kid search will take you from the Ice Kingdom to the Candy Kingdom, the Evil forest, the Badlands, and to the FireKingdom… some even in lesser locations like the Mushroom town or kingdom on the map (Forgot what its called, rarely went there), point is, without a fast travel system, the trip to the various islands that you can go to takes time… the dungeons themselves are not much of an issue and not as long as the ship sections.

For example you can explore the Candy Kingdom, the Fire Kingdom, and the Ice Kingdom though the Ice Kingdom is just one area, the other areas really open up as time goes on.

Tip for long term gaming, wait until you get all four characters, you will be making repeat visits so aside from grinding gold or Dosh as the game calls it for upgrades, don't worry too much about backtracking.

Anyway this game is made for kids mostly, adults will enjoy it as well but don't expect complex battles that will test your might in epic ways.

I won't lie there maybe better versions of this game but aside from one freeze at the end of the game, its not as bad as many make it out to be… (Then again this is 2021 so any bugs and glitches maybe ironed out so only a few still are around)... still in a nutshell… its not a bad game, I recommend it only if its on sale… do not get this on the E-shop on Switch for full price.

Finally… story spoilers, if you want to avoid them or look elsewhere please look away otherwise continue reading on… you have been warned.

Story spoilers, please turn back or look at a youtube video for better examples or continue on for detailed story spoilers, giving a long space after this to give time to think but I recommend looking up a video or read on since playing the game would be… tedious:

In a nutshell, Ooo was flooded by the Ice Kingdom melting and the cause was the Ice King's crown going nuts!, Finn and Jake have to find out why and after going to the Ice Kingdom to speak with Ice King and after a trip to the Candy Kingdom to speak with Colonel Candy Corn or Admiral given the sea things with pirates going on after some interrogation they were about to leave the Candy Kingdom to head to the Evil forest…

Though before that, Finn and Jake recruit Marceline after helping her get her Pirate hat back to protect her from the sunlight since an unknown perp kidnapped Bubblegum and took her to the evil forest against her will and thanks to Finn and Jake's help in getting Marceline on their team and with her skills in opening locked treasure chests, AKA, using her Axe to bash the chains off... the group was able to get tons of Dosh around Ooo as they came on said chests.

After working to get to the evil forest for the first time they had to get to Bubblegum who was kidnapped by pirates somehow after they interrogate a disheveled and slightly crazed Peppermint Butler… though if he was insane or not since by the time the group met them it was only hours since Ooo was flooded… I digress, they got to her and thanks to Marceline getting a key after turning invisible to sneak by some Pirates, they freed Bubblegum or were about to until Fern the Grass knight came in to cause trouble… After a lengthy battle, the group beats Fern but thanks to Jake's blunder in not keeping an eye on him, Fern manages to get away for now.

The group then go back to the Ice King after getting his crown fixed by Bubblegum when she… flipped the crown's gem around… seriously how does flipping a gem around fix the crown?

Though the situation was far from over when the next stop was the Candy Kingdom to drop Bubblegum off and the group went back to the evil Forest to try and find more clues about Fern but instead the group ran into BMO, and after some work to free the little bot, the group had their fourth and final ally in their high seas adventure and went back to the Candy Kingdom after hearing about a Mother Varment who was tormenting the Candy Kingdom.

After dealing with the Mother Varment, thanks to BMO's aid in navigation, the group was able to get into the Fire Kingdom thanks to a hidden pathway to the kingdom, the main roads or paths during this time were blocked off by geysers of powerful blasts of heated air and water.

In the Fire Kingdom, the group runs into Phoebe and has to aid her in getting the Core of the Fire Kingdom heated up since someone sabotaged the pipes of the Fire Kingdom core to let water in, thanks to the Core being weakened, it made sense why Phoebe didn't aid them in fights.

Though after preventing the core from getting waterlogged, turns out it was Fern again but instead of fighting him again, Fern sicked a Fire Giant on the four somehow and after a lengthy fight which was helped by the fact that the Fire Giant could be boggled and what not (Status effect that saves your bacon here, use Jake's boggle attack and BMO's energy gain skill for an easy win, just make sure to train your health so you can withstand the Fire Giants hits) the Fire Giant was beaten and thanks to Phoebe explaining some things, the sea fairing group of Finn, Jake, BMO, and Marceline went to get Torcho and after fighting by her flame guards and gaining some heat cores, Torcho was brought in to reheat the core and the issue with the Fire Kingdom was solved though to the group… they still don't know who caused these issues aside from Fern causing trouble.

After some thought and with Phoebe's input the group went back to the Ice Kingdom to talk with Ice King so they could try and find out more about how this all started and thanks to some lengthy talk, the group found out Gumbald was the main cause of it all… honestly first time meeting Fern, chalk it up to him causing trouble, second time… signals should be given by now…

Anyway Gumbald, Fern, and the other two of Bubblegum's extended family arrived and after Ice King left the group, Fern went after him which left Gumbald to fight the heroes on his own… not sure what the other two family members were here for now that I think about it… after the four kicked Gumbald's butt, the group had Gumbald locked away and Finn, Jake, BMO, and Marceline went to pull the plug on this… literally as well to drain the water from Ooo, after that happened, the Ice King told the others that Fern got away and in a cliffhanger ending, Gumbald managed to get free by Fern as he got into the Candy Kingdom dungeon… nothing much was seen after and thanks to that ending and with Adventure time being officially over with the HBO Max series being out… a sequel was highly unlikely so this is officially the end of the game Adventure time: Pirates of the Enchiridion.

Either get this game on sale or watch the story on youtube, makes a nice watch for a pseudo adventure time story… don't buy this full price, game is not worth it but is not as bad as many make it out to be.
