I can feel their fear radiating off of them as I walked into the room. Ivan and Damien are standing by the doors, guarding it. "Make sure no one comes in here. If anyone gets past you, you get a bullet to the foot." I say, walking past them.
"What the fuck are you doing, you psycho bitch?!" Blondie asked, shakingly.
"Psycho? No. Bitch? Maybe. Now, I'm going to ask you two, a few questions. I want an honest answer. If I get my answers, everything will be fine. Lie to me and you both die, slow and painful deaths." I say.
"Why would we do that?" Blondie asks.
"Let me point something out to you so you understand it. This family is tighter than you think. So if you think that because you let my brothers wet their dick, you're automatically family, you're wrong." I inform, giving her an angelic smile. "Now, I know you two have been put in danger thanks to my brothers so I'll try to be nice, but keep up with the attitude and I'll pull out your extensions, do you understand?"
She gulps and nods, wide-eyed.
"Now, first question…how did you meet my brothers?" I asked.
Esme looked over at them and gestured towards the couch.
"A fender bender." The pixie said.
"I met Emmett by chance, at the pharmacy." Blondie said, a small smile grazing her lips.
"Pharmacy?" Esme asked, interested.
"Yeah, I was at the feminine hygiene aisle and he was standing there staring at the shelves looking terrified as ever. I took pity on him, and helped him grab a box of tampons and pads." She said, smiling again.
I nod, looking out the window to see Seth, and Gabriella standing there, on guard.
"What happened to make my brother decide you needed to be brought here?" I asked.
"My family." Blondie spoke, softly.
"Explain please." I said, feeling tension permeate the air in the small room.
"I am Rosalie Lillian Hale… daughter of Roger King, and Georgina Hale." She explained.
The Kings were one of the many families attacking our family because of greed. They wanted control of our turf. Well, that wasn't happening not while I am still breathing. With that being said. I didn't waste time pulling out my gun and releasing the safety pointing it at Blondie.
"Isa, let her explain," Sulpicia says, stepping in front of Rosalie.
"There better be a good fucking explanation as to why she's here! Do you have any fucking idea what will happen when her family finds out my brother brought her here?! An all-out war will break out!" I growled as Esme took the gun from me.
I was practically vibrating with anger, 'how could he do something so fucking stupid?!' I think, growling again. The calming breaths I am taking don't seem to be working as I stare her nervous ass down.
"They won't. I haven't spoken to them since I turned eighteen." She informed us.
"How do I know you're not lying?" I asked, ripping.away my gun from Esme.
"Because I can't speak to someone who willingly turns a blind eye to a rapist! Someone who voluntarily kidnaps young girls to sell them into prostitution! I fucking hate that man with all my being!" She growls, tears running down her face.
"He did what?!"
"Please. Believe me, I would never jeopardize Emmett like this. I know about the Oath, I'll do it." She says, pleadingly.
I look towards Esme and Sully for advice. Esme was in tears too, and Sul stood there unsurprised, nodding in response to my silent question.
"Sul, you already knew this." I say, looking at her for an explanation.
"I met her then. Helped her get out of the women's shelter for the abused, she was living in, and helped her go back to school." She explained, timidly.
"That's how Alice and I met. In the shelter. When Sulpicia offered to get me out of there, I couldn't leave her there. I needed to help her too." Rosalie explained.
I nodded, heading to sit down on the couch there.
"The Oath is a promise. Not to me, to Emmett, or Jasper but to the family. Once you make it, there is no going back. You have to marry Emmett and Jasper. There is no divorce, or legal separation. You want to leave, the only way you will leave is in a box. So, before you make the Oath, think very hard on whether or not you want to be a part of this type of life because there is no way out once you're in, it's for life." I say.
Rose and Alice stare at me, surprised, before nodding.
"You have until midnight to decide. Keep in mind that you already know things so the only way you'll leave is in a box." I say before heading to the door. "Esme, Sulpicia leave them alone to decide, this has to be on their own. No swaying." I add, before exiting.
"Ivan, Damien, you are to stay here until I get an answer. Make sure they don't leave." I order before slowly making my way to the office.
I could hear soft voices speaking as I approached the door. I don't bother knocking. Only pausing to gather by wits before pushing the door open.
"Did you hurt them?" Senior asks as soon as I step into the room.
"Now, why would I do that?" I replied, smirking as I walked towards the empty chair.
I feel Edward wrap his hand around my waist and pull me onto his lap. "What's going on?" I finally inquired, looking at him concerned.
"Dulcezza, we-" Nonno began, sighing and running a hand over his face before he looked up at me. "Dulcezza, we have possession of your parents." He finally said.
I felt my back stiffen as I heard him. My parents?... But that would mean...
"Easy, love, you'll hurt yourself." He whispered, as he rubbed my back in a soothing manner.
"Please, let go of me. I don't want to hurt you." I whispered back, feeling him shake his head in response before tightening his arms around me.
"Have you questioned their motives?" I asked, after a moment in silent thought.
"I have. It is with great sorrow in my heart that I inform all of you of this occurrence…" My Nonno replied, saddened. "It is as I suspected before their deaths happened. It's all foul play. So, it seems." He begins to explain.
"Foul play?" Senior asked, confused.
"Yes, you see, Charles has always been lenient, lax with his business. I always knew that making him head of the family was a mistake, that is why when he became head of the family, I made a clause. When Emmett became of age he would become head, after he is married." My Nonno explains.
"What does this have to do with my parents' betrayal?" I asked him, confused.
"Your brother has rejected the proposal." He replied, looking straight at me.
Oh God… then that means...holy fuck!
"Isabetta Marina Swantorini, you are the only person left. You need to become Head of the famiglia." He says.
"Why not, Marcus or Emmett? Why me? There has never been a femminile as head of Swantorini! How will the organization react?!" I asked, shooting onto my feet.
"Isa, hear me out…" he says, his palms up, causing me to pause. "Out of all of us here, you my tesoro, are the only one worthy of the spot. You have gone beyond to protect this family along with its secrets, you know the ins and outs of the organization, and have proved to us that you are more than capable of leading this family anywhere. You were born to do this, tesoro." He said, holding my hand in his, tenderly.
"What about my parents?" I asked, with a heavy heart.
"Cara mia, your parents ran and turned away from the famiglia. I'm sorry, it's out of my hands." He replied, his voice cracking at the words famiglia and hands.
"I can't let this happen. I have to know what they did that is so wrong, and has painted a target on their backs." I argued.
"They went to the FBI. Gave up the names and locations of dozens of families within the organization. Our best man managed to erase the list before it could make it into the wrong hands but this treason has affected us all, and the families affected have demanded retribution."
My blood turned cold as I realized I couldn't save them.
"Where?" I whispered.
"The basement." He replied, tiredly.
How is it possible for a man to grow older in such a short amount of time? My poor Nonno seemed to be carrying the world on his shoulders, and there was nothing I could do to help him.
There was only one thing I could do. I would have to be the one to pull that trigger, for anyone else it would be too much to bear, I had to do this. It was the only way to have peace once more.
"How much time do you need?" I asked.
"It needs to be done before we go settle the problem stateside." Senior says.
"I see." I replied, nodding to myself.
"Isa, you don't need to do this. I can have Demitri do it. Don't get your hands dirty for this." Edward said, his hand wrapping his hand around my wrist.
I smiled at him, reaching up to caress his face, before I reached up to kiss his cheek. "It is. If I am taking my rightful place in the famiglia, it is something I cannot evade. Treason is not something I can ignore, even if it is the very people who gave life to me." I say, before turning to leave.
As I exited the office, I slowly made my way back to the library, where Ivan and Damien stood guarding the door. My wound was beginning to bother me and it was only the beginning of a tiresome day.
My eyes quickly fall on the two ladies, fast asleep on the couch, as I re-enter the library. I slowly walk towards them and shake them gently to wake them up.
"Rosalie, Mary Alice?" I whispered.
"Hm?" Rosalie replied, drowsily.
"It's half past twelve. Have you made a decision yet?" I asked.
I watched the two exchanged a look with one another before turning to look at me.
"We've decided to take the Oath." They replied together.
