How To Train Your Pokemon @toothlove
Chapter 39

Chapter 39

If there was a better word to describe the Hoenn region in that very moment, then it probably hasn't been said.

Since the awakening of Kyogre and Groudon and the start of the battle between the Primal beasts, the whole region has been sucked into a massive vortex of chaos at every single corner. Massive waves, Mt. Chimney erupting like a fountain, tornadoes, earthquakes, and just about every natural disaster in the book.

From Dewford Town to Mossdeep City to the home of the Pokémon League, Evergrande City, not a single corner of the region was safe from the madness.

And in the midst of all this chaos was the glimmer of hope that rested in Hiccup as he rides his newly evolved black Salamence, accompanied by Mala, as they head to the Sky Pillar in hopes to find the sky guardian, Rayquaza.

As the two of them went along, Mala pointed out, "These winds are mighty fierce. How do you expect us to get through it?"

Hiccup replies, "I think I have just the thing." He pulls out the white keystone with a red and blue Mega symbol that he got from Steven after helping him find Registeel.

Mala comments, "A Salamencite, of course!"

Hiccup places the stone into a band that he wraps around the base of the black dragon's neck. He then presses the keystone on his wrist and it, along with the Salamencite, glows pink. He pumps his fist and says, "Beyond evolution. Salamence, Mega Evolve!"

"Graaaaaah!" Salamence roars out as it is engulfed in a field of pink that, when it fades, reveals the dragon Pokémon with a crescent moon shaped wing that wrapped all the way around from near one side of his head to another.

Mala comments, "Mega Salamence is one of the best and fastest flying Pokémon, it will help us for sure."

Hiccup nods. "Exactly. Alright, Salamence, show us what you've got!"

"Graaaah!" Salamence tucks its front legs into itself and beings to dash through the high winds, avoiding tornadoes as it went along. Hiccup and Mala had to hold on tight as the black dragon had no saddle to hold onto at that moment.

The two of the dash through the weather until Mala points out a large stone tower that appeared to reach to the sky. "That's it! The Sky Pillar!"

Hiccup nods. "Take us in, Salamence!" Salamence nods and climbs its way up and up the sides of the tower until it soon reached the top platform. Hiccup gets off and Mala hands him the Jade Orb to which Hiccup says, "Well, here goes nothing." he holds up the orb saying, "Rayquaza, come to us!"

There was silence at first before the orb began to glow green and started to levitate out of Hiccup's hands. The orb continued to glow until a loud roar could be heard in the near distance. Descending from the clouds was a huge, green serpent Pokémon with two big hands. "Rayquaza!" Mala comments. "You are just as magnificent as they come."

Hiccup replies, "There's time to admire it later." He steps forward and locks eyes with the green dragon. "Rayquaza, we are in need of your help. Kyogre and Groudon have been awakened and are causing havoc all over the Hoenn region, and only you can stop them." He then holds out his right hand while saying, "Please, Rayquaza…we need you."

Rayquaza looks the boy up and down and notices a very odd familiarity to a boy it once knew, back in another time when this happened. It leans in and rests its snout on Hiccup's hand. Hiccup smiles and says, "Great, so…how are you going to do this?"

Rayquaza steps back and lowers itself until it's back is at level with the platform Hiccup was standing on. Hiccup was a bit confused about this but Mala explains, "I think Rayquaza wants you to help it."

Hiccup asks, "Me?"

Mala replies, "Legend has it that part of Rayquaza's power comes from the bond that a trainer has with Pokémon. You, Hiccup, have time and time again proven that you have one of the most unique bonds of all, and I think Rayquaza needs that bond to help it."

Hiccup looks back to Rayquaza and it nods to him. Hiccup nods back and climbs right on, nestling himself in front of Rayquaza's hands. Hiccup looks to Salamence and says, "Salamence, take Mala back to the gang. She's gonna want a good seat for this."

"Raugh!" Salamence replies before Hiccup pats Rayquaza on the neck and it takes off towards the direction of Kyogre and Groudon.

Meanwhile, back in Littleroot town, Valka was continuing to watch the report when Stoick barges in. "Stoick!" Valka says.

"Valka, where is Hiccup?" Stoick asks.

Valka replies, "I don't know, I think the last I heard he was in Sootopolis but I don't know."

Suddenly, the news reporter, Atali, comes in with this. "We bring you a new update on the Kyogre and Groudon incident. It seems that the legendary Pokémon, Rayquaza, has appeared on the scene. What's more is that the guardian of the sky seems to have something or someone on its back." The shot turns to Rayquaza and zooms in on Hiccup.

Valka and Stoick simultaneously gasp. "Hiccup?!"

Atali adds, "I am getting confirmation that that is, indeed, Hiccup Haddock, the boy who's been winning battles and catching Pokémon in a rather unconventional way. What Haddock is doing there, we will find out as the story develops. I'm Atali Wingmaid, Channel 8 News."

Hiccup and Rayquaza soar through the skies, at a much faster rate than he did on Salamence. Hiccup says to Rayquaza, "This battle is gonna be tough. Any way we can even the odds a little?"

"Raaaaaugh!" Rayquaza responds and suddenly the Jade Orb glows a bit, revealing a Mega Symbol on the inside.

Hiccup's eyes widen. "Ok, that might help." He presses his keystone, causing the Jade Orb to glow even brighter as he pumps his fist saying, "For Hoenn. Rayquaza, MEGA EVOLVE!"

Rayquaza's body becomes encased in a field of pink as it develops two sharp horns coming from the sides of its mouth, black stripes develop on its body and whiskers of orange rings flow down from the back of its head.

Hiccup nods at the Mega Evolution and Rayquaza picks up speed, going nearly twice as fast and slicing through the harsh winds. Along the way, however, something occurs to Hiccup, "You know, Rayquaza, you might be a powerful Pokémon but Kyogre and Groudon seem about as angry and powerful as can be, you really think you and I alone can take them down?"

Rayquaza responds with a mixed grunt of confidence but also worry as it has been a long time since it fought anything. "Perhaps I can be of assistance!" Said a familiar male voice making Hiccup look over and see a short black haired man on top of a yellow, spiked bird.

"Viggo! Zapdos!" Hiccup says. "Wait, where's the baby Zapdos?"

Viggo replies, "You're looking at it. You see, Zapdos have a very long lifespan but they tend to reach an age of maturity much quicker than most Pokémon. The mother has since left to return to its home world in Kanto, but this one chose to stay here."

Hiccup nods. "Fascinating." Rayquaza then grunts, reminding Hiccup what they're doing. "Hey, so, what's this about you helping us take down Kyogre and Groudon?"

Viggo replies, "Well, I saw the news and figured some legendary help would be useful here. Also, Zapdos insisted on bringing some friends." He gestures behind himself and behind him was a yellow bird with flames coming out of its wings and head and a blue bird with a very long tail.

Viggo explains starting with the blue bird, "This here is Articuno, the legendary bird of ice…" then the yellow bird. "…and Moltres, the legendary bird of flames."

Hiccup's eyes widen. "Whoa, they're both magnificent." Just then, two jet shaped figures, one red and white the other blue and white, flies past the side of his vision at top speed, figures that instantly recognize Hiccup and Hiccup recognizes back. "Latias! Latios! You guys came!" There was also a bit of rumbling down below that was different from the rumbling coming from Kyogre and Groudon.

Hiccup looks down and sees a massive, white and yellow humanoid Pokémon walking through the waves like its nothing. "Regigigas!" Hiccup exclaims. "What are you all doing here?"

Regigigas replied, "Same thing you and Rayquaza are doing. We are here to help stop the wrath of Kyogre and Groudon."

"Amazing!" Hiccup yells out.

Regigigas then says, "However, first we'll need the help of some friends." Hiccup looks ahead a bit and sees Astrid, Steven and the gang who were also seeing the legendary Pokémon approaching. The flying Pokémon dive in and land in front of them while Regigigas kneels and extends an arm.

Astrid then asks, "Y-you want us to help as well?"

Regigigas nods. "We've heard of the way you and Hiccup have been training and protecting Pokémon, all the more reason to take you with us." Just then, an earthquake caused by the battle between Kyogre and Groudon occurs. "We have to hurry though. Quick, kids, grab a Pokémon and let's battle!"

Hiccup comments. "I get it, Rayquaza and I alone are good, but teaming up with other legendary Pokémon? There's nothing we can't accomplish!"

Snotlout immediately calls, "Dibs on the fire bird!" and climbs onto Moltres. Moltres seemed thrilled with having Snotlout on there.

Astrid gets on Articuno while saying, "I never saw myself as much of an ice girl, but somehow this does feel good." Articuno happily chirps.

Fishlegs grabs onto Regigigas's hand and it takes him up to his shoulder. "Oh, I get to help Regigigas fight, this is an even better day than when I first met you, and that was literally yesterday!"

Finally, Ruffnut gets on Latias while Tuffnut takes Latios. Ruffnut says, "Alright, Latias, let's show them what girl power is made of!" Latias grunts a response of joy.

Tuffnut adds, "Latios, it's you and me, baby!" Latios grunts its own response.

As soon as the gang climbed on, another, bigger tremor followed by a big wave occurred as Groudon had thrown Kyogre against a sea stack and Kyogre splashed back. Steven then comments, "Now this should be a sight to see."

All the gang members and the legends get to the same altitude where Hiccup says, "Alright, gang. Let's BATTLE!"

They all yell in response.

Hiccup first orders, "We need to get their attention!"

Snotlout replies, "I'm on it! Moltres, use Flamethrower!" Moltres flies in and spits a stream of flame that strikes Kyogre and Groudon and, while it didn't do much damamge, certainly caused them to turn and face the other Pokémon.

Groudon then roars out and slams its paws to the ground, causing sharp blades of rock to extend from the earth.

Steven comments. "That's Precipice Blades! Groudon's signature move!"

Fishlegs comments, "I'm on it! Regigigas, use Earthquake!"

"Roger!" Regigigas replies as it too slams down to the ground, causing an earthquake that shatters the sharp blades almost instantly.

Kyogre then leaps up and 5 beams of water fire from its sides.

Steven comments, "Origin Pulse! One of Kyogre's most powerful moves!"

Viggo then says, "This one's mine! Zapdos, use Thunder!" Zapdos yells out and causes a powerful bolt of electricity to strike down, colliding with the pulse and causing a small standstill.

Astrid adds, "Looks like you need some extra fire power! Articuno, Ice Beam, now!" Articuno opens its mouth wide and fires a beam of ice that adds to the lightning and sends the Origin Pulse right back to Kyogre, causing it be knocked back a little and cause another large wave to emerge that was fizzled by Groudon's Desolate Land ability.

Groudon was still standing strong, though, so Ruffnut and Tuffnut fly in as Ruffnut says, "Latias, Mist Ball!"

While Tuffnut adds, "Latios, Luster Purge!" Latias forms a ball of mist while Latios fires a green beam of purging energy that strikes Groudon down and causes it to step back into the water.

Hiccup comments, "You're doing great, guys. Keep it up!"

Both Pokémon were a bit more worn out then from battling each other, but being the legendary beasts they are, they still had a lot of fight to them, so they both stand strong while Groudon sends a plume of lava their way while Kyogre splashes and causes a huge wave to emerge.

Astrid then commands, "We gotta stop them! Articuno, Freeze-Dry!" Articuno fires a big, freezing beam that instantly freezes the wave in its tracks and trickles over to Kyogre, causing it to get frozen to its own water.

As for the Lava Plume, Snotlout gets in there and commands, "Moltres, Fire Spin, sweep up that lava!" Moltres takes to the top of the lava cloud and proceeds to spin around, causing the flames to vortex around it and stop moving in that direction.

Tuffnut then commands, "Latios, get in there with a Telekinesis!"

Ruffnut adds, "You too, Latias!"

Latias and Latios's eyes glow purple as they redirect the lava back to Kyogre and Groudon, encasing them in the swirling fire.

Viggo looks down to Fishlegs and says, "Slam down on the water, I have an idea!"

Fishlegs nods and says, "You heard him, Regigigas! Heavy Slam!"

Regigigas slams down into the water, sending another big wave where Viggo says, "Zapdos, Zap Cannon!" Zapdos sends a beam of electricity that electrifies the water going to Kyogre and Groudon.

Hiccup adds, "I'll do you one better! Rayquaza, use Dragon Breath!" Rayquaza sends a blue and red beam that mixes in with the electrified wave.

Ruffnut adds, "Don't get left behind, here Latias! Mist Ball!" Latias forms another ball of mist that goes into Zapdos's cannon and adds even more power to the wave.

Tuffnut adds, "Luster Purge, Latios! Try to keep up!" Latios sends another green beam that causes the wave to glow green with the high energy.

The now green, electrified, Dragon Breath flowing, misted wave washes right into Kyogre and Groudon, causing them to be hit with the tremendous amount of power coming from the wave and causing Groudon to get on its knees and Kyogre to lean against the bit of land Groudon was on.

Hiccup then commands, "Now's our chance, Rayquaza! DRAGON ASCENT!"

Rayquaza yells out as it straightens out and its body becomes encased in a sort of green arrow that strikes right into Kyogre and Groudon, causing them both to get knocked onto their backs as their Primal forms fade and they both smash through several layers of the seabed below, forcing them into a new cave where they both were so tired that they went back to sleep for who knows how long?

As soon as Kyogre and Groudon were in their new resting place, the rain stopped, the waves went down, the ground stopped shaking, Mt. Chimney stopped erupting and, in a snap, the whole region went right back to its original peaceful state, causing the whole region to yell out in joy.

The legendary Pokémon land back at Sootopolis City and the humans, except for Viggo, get off while Regigigas says, "I speak for us Pokémon when I say, thank you all for your help. We truly wouldn't have been able to take Kyogre and Groudon down if it weren't for your bravery."

Hiccup nods. "We're just happy to help."

Rayquaza then leans in and gives Hiccup as big nuzzle, thanking him for summoning it. With that, the other Pokémon say goodbye to the humans they were with before they all head off to their original homes.

Mala then lands atop of Hiccup's black Salamence and says, "Hiccup, you did it! You saved the whole region! No words can describe how thankful I am!"

Hiccup replies, "Well, I couldn't have done it without my friends or the Pokémon." With that, Salamence leans in to nuzzle Hiccup as well.

Steven then pats Hiccup on the shoulder saying, "Hiccup, for what you did today, I'd be proud to challenge you any day when you get to Ever Grande City."

"Actually, that brings up something…" Astrid says as she approaches Hiccup. "We might not have finished out battle, but you did sort of help take down one of the most powerful Water Type Pokémon in the world and, well…" She holds out the three water drop shaped badge. "I think that's more than enough of a reason to give you the Rain Badge."

Hiccup felt quite excited about that, but then something occurs in his mind, something that gave him a look of concern as he reaches up and closes Astrid's hand. "Astrid…I'm sorry but…I'm afraid I can't accept this."

Snotlout then asks, "What? You mean, after all that, you aren't accepting the badge? What's the deal?"

"Hiccup is right." says an almost godly voice as a white horse appears from the sky and lands right in front of them.

Everyone was speechless upon seeing this Pokémon until Fishlegs says, "Holy…crap. Y-you're…Arceus! The god of all Pokémon!"

Mala then kneels. "It is an honor, great creator."

Arceus shakes his head. "There's no need for that. First off, I'd like to say thank you, Hiccup, you did exactly as I hoped you would. You used your unique connection with Pokémon to help you save the world, I couldn't ask for anything else."

Hiccup nods. "Thank you, Arceus. It was an honor to come here."

Arceus then adds, "However, I think you know what this means. You have done your deed here, so it is time to return to your home world, your dragon world."

Hiccup then looks to everyone else, while he knows that all of these people do exist in his world, he was still so grateful to meet the versions of these guys in the Pokémon world. Yes, he knew he'd eventually had to go back but he was sort of hoping he could stay and possibly try the Pokémon League, but as Arceus said, he did do what was expected of him.

There was one thing, however, that Hiccup knew he wouldn't be able to do in his home world, something that would kill him if he didn't do so here, so he looks back up to Arceus and asks, "Can I stay a little longer? There's just…one thing I need to do."

Arceus could sense what it was, and he could feel the emotion running through Hiccup in that moment. Arceus replies, "I will give you one hour, but when that is over, it will be time to go."

Hiccup smiles and nods. "Thank you, thank you so much!" Hiccup gets on Salamence and looks to the gang, Mala and Steven before saying, "…thanks guys, for helping me."

Tuffnut asks, "So, you're gonna go back to our other world twins?"

Hiccup replies, "Yep, that's about it. But don't worry, you guys will be fine without me. You all have your Pokémon, after all."

They all smile to that and wave as Hiccup has Salamence take off towards the West. He has Salamence go as fast as it can, since he knew he didn't have that much time.

As they went along the clear skies, he couldn't help but hear the roaring crowd of Pacifidlog Town and Slateport City as they passed by, hearing all of them shout out in joy over Hiccup's heroic deed. While Hiccup would've loved to visit them a bit longer, he was still in a hurry.

Salamence does everything it can to pick up speed and quickly fly to Littleroot town, where he saw his dad's Tauros standing outside his mom's house.

Knowing what that meant, he flew down, hopped off and stood outside the door, taking a deep breath before opening the door and saying, "…Dad?"

Quite the legendary chapter, if I do say so myself.

1 more chapter of HTTYP to go, and just a warning, it might pull some heart strings.

Thank you for reading up to this point, take care and see you soon!
