Baby Shower

A/N: Hello...*crickets* Is anyone out there? I know it's been way too long before I could get this update out, but real life has a way of making you sit down and prioritize things. So I could not write as I liked, but here is an update for you guys. Please excuse any mistakes, I betaed this myself, and I wrote this over a long period of time. I appreciate those that still send me PM's asking me to continue this story, and I promise I am, but it is going to take time. Hopefully not this long again, but I am going to do my best to finish it. It is going to be coming to an end in the next three chapters I think...but we'll see. Enough of all this talking, HAPPY READING!

***I Own Nothing****

The day had arrived, and it was time for the baby shower. Everyone was so excited for it to arrive, because so much planning had went into this, and to finally see everything coming together was amazing. They wanted this event to be fun for everyone, not just Mercedes, so they had a lot of things planned for Sam and his friends as well, which was not an easy thing to pull off, but Mary and Maxine along with the ladies from the Troubletones pulled it off flawlessly. They booked a beautiful indoor venue at the Shedd Aquarium, that had a beautiful view of the lake, and the rest of the city. It was a prime spot, and they were happy they were able to secure it. They spent the day getting the place decorated, with yellow and green decorations, to keep with the neutral theme. The food was being prepared, and the bars were being set up. Mary and Maxine was checking on their surprise, and making sure everything was set.

"I really hope they say yes." Mary said as she put the last cannon in place.

"Me too." Maxine replied, "This reveal is huge, and I think they would love it, but it would suck if we went through all this and they say they still don't want to know."

"It's a risk, and we knew it, but no matter what, this is going to be an amazing shower, that they will both enjoy." Mary said as she stood back and looked over all their hard work.

"Yeah it is, but I want to do the reveal." Maxine whined, then laughed. "It's so nice and amazing. We came up with a great idea, and I want to use it."

Mary was about to say something else when Santana, Quinn, and Tina came in;

"So is everything ready?" Tina asked, "It looks great in here."

"Thanks Tina," Maxine said smiling, "We worked hard for this party."

"It shows." Quinn chimed in, "So what time is this party going to get started?"

"In about 30 minutes." Mary said, "So if you have to do anything else, then you should do it now."

Everyone went to get themselves together before the party started.

Meanwhile

Mercedes and Sam were headed to the Aquarium for the shower, and they were both excited. Mercedes took Sam's hand in hers;

"I can't wait to see what our moms and the girls came up with. I mean the location is off the charts, so I can only imagine what everything else is going to be like."

Sam nodded his head, "Yeah, you know they are going to go all out." He looked back to the road, but then glanced at Mercedes again, "Um...babe, I need to talk to you about something."

She looked over to him, "Okay, what is it?"

He took a deep breath, "Mom called me the other day, and wanted me to ask you something about the party."

"Okay…"

"They had this idea of a big reveal, but only if we agreed to it."

Mercedes didn't expect to hear that, "What kind of reveal?"

He shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know, she didn't say, but apparently it is a big deal."

"They already have it planned?" She saw him nod yes, "But what if we say no?"

"Then they won't do it, at least that's what she said." He answered honestly. "It's no pressure, we just have to say yes or no." He squeezed her hand, "So what do you think?"

Mercedes took a deep breath, she didn't know what to say or think, sure she had gone back and forth about wanting to know the sex of the baby, but she couldn't bring herself to ask. She had even gone so far as to calling her mother to ask, but chickened out and hung up. "What do you think Sam?"

He shrugged his shoulders, "I honestly don't know, I've been thinking about it, but I want us both to agree or not."

She bit her bottom lip and tugged on the hem of her skirt, "I still need time to think about this, so if it's a yes, then we'll tell them."

Sam smiled and nodded, "I think that's a good idea, we can think about it during the party, and for some reason, we still say no, then it's just no."

"Yeah, I'm glad that they are respecting our decision, and giving us a chance to decide." She said smiling, "They have been real good about knowing, even though you can tell they want to tell us."

"Oh yeah! I can tell my mom wants to tell me every time we talk, but she restrains herself." He laughed.

"It's killing them." Mercedes shook her head, "But I appreciate them."

"Yeah me too." Sam smiled, as they pulled up to the Aquarium, "So we're here."

"Yeah, so let's go get our baby shower on." She giggled.

"You're so silly Mercy." Sam nodded, "And you call me a dork."

"You are a dork, but I think you're rubbing off on me." She smirked, and waited for Sam to open her door.

He jumped out of the car, laughing at his wife, and went to open her door, "Come on Mrs. Dork." He leaned down and kissed her cheek.

They made their way inside, and was led to the room where their party was being held, and it was beautiful. It was as if they were under the sea. The room was surrounded by huge tanks, with all kinds of fish and coral swimming around. The decorations matched the vibe of the room, with, blue, green, and yellow flowers, balloons, and lights everywhere. Their mothers and friends went all out for this, and they both really appreciate it tremendously. They were greeted by their mothers when they walked in;

"You finally made it!" Maxine said hugging Mercedes, "And you look beautiful."

"Thanks mom." Mercedes hugged her mom, "But I feel like a whale."

"You're seven and a half months pregnant Cedes, and nothing is more beautiful." Mary chimed in, "So come on in, and greet you your guests."

"That you are baby, very beautiful." Sam smiled and rubbed her back. "You guys have it looking really nice in here."

"Thanks Sam, and we even have somethings for you guys, who may not want to be a part of the girly shower things." Maxine said, pointing towards the other room, where they had a TV room set up, with their own bar and food.

Sam smiled brightly, "That's awesome mom, thank you guys for doing that." He kissed Mercedes on the cheek, "You know where to find me babe if you need me." With that he turned on his heels, and headed towards the room.

"Great, I lost my husband for the night." Mercedes chuckle, as she watched Sam practically run into the TV room, with some of the other guys there already. She looked back at the mothers, "So I want to thank you guys for doing this, it looks amazing in here."

"It's our pleasure baby." Maxine said, with a huge smile on her face. "You deserve a great shower, I mean you have already been through so much already."

"I haven't been through as much as some women." Mercedes said humbly, "I mean I have had a loving husband by my side great parents, and amazing friends, I have been downright blessed."

Mary smiled, "Well then let's celebrate you being blessed then."

"I'll always celebrate that!" Mercedes said, and hugged the both of them. "Now let's get this shower started."

They made their way to the tables, and all the festivities kicked off. They played games, watched a slideshow of Sam and Mercedes' journey, had different toasts and speeches from the guest, and then they opened all the gifts. It was so much, and Mercedes and Sam were both overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and support they had from their friends and family. But it came to the point of the shower where they had to make the one decision they couldn't make their minds up about. Mary and Maxine were standing in front of the guests;

"So we know what we have planned, but before we say anything, we need to look to the guests of honor and get a yes or a no."

The other guests were a bit confused as to what was going on, but Sam and Mercedes knew exactly what was going on. They looked at each other, hoping the other would just make the decision for them.

"Okay Cede Bear, it's now or never." Sam pleaded with her to say something.

She bit her bottom lip, trying to decide what she wanted to do, then finally she closed her eyes and blurted out, "Yes!"

The looks on Maxine and Mary's face was pure shock and complete happiness. They were not going to give her a second to change her mind. "It's a go!" Mary screamed out.

Suddenly the lights went out, and music started to play all you could see was the glow of the aquarium lights. The guests looked around trying to figure out what was going on. Suddenly a spotlight landed on Sam and Mercedes table, and they looked around trying to see what was going on.

"So it's finally time for the big reveal." Maxine said, "And on each of your tables is going to be a piece to the puzzle, so when it appears, I need everyone at the table to yell it out."

Mercedes gasped, "Is that?"

Sam took her hand and nodded, "That's your song baby."

She was stunned to hear her song Lions and Tigers playing, but it brought tears instantly to her eyes, because she wrote this song for her unborn child.

[Intro]

Whoa, whoa

[Verse 1]

Confidently, I did the thing

A woman like me should never do

I stepped on a scale

The lights flickered around, and it landed on the first table, and like magic, a word appeared. The first table yelled out, "You're!"

And thought "What the hell?"

Cause honey that scale was mighty rude

Then the lights flickered around some more, and then landed on the second table and they yelled out, "Having!"

So I've gained a little weight

Mama's hair's a little gray

And my strength just ain't the same

But believe me when I say

The lights flickered around the room some more, and it landed on the next table, and they yelled out, "A Beautiful!"

[Chorus]

I'd fight a bear underwater for my baby

Bring on a lion, I'm not frightened

They can't take me

I'd tear the stripes off any tiger

You just call me and I swear

I'm right there and I'm not scared

Of lions and tigers and bears

Whoa, oh, whoa

Again the lights flickered and it landed on the table with Quinn, Santana, Puck, Sean, Joe and Rachel, and they screamed out, "Talented!"

[Verse 2]

A wolf or a fox, please

A big jabberwocky

You just gotta knock on your mama's door

The sequence happened again, and it landed on the table with Finn, Sunshine, Artie, and Sugar, and they yelled out, "Bouncing!"

I'll fight through the fire

But if there's a spider - well honey

That's what your friends are for!

I know sometimes we don't agree

But I'm always on your team

And if somebody's ever mean

If they try to take a swing

I'm gon hit that gangster lean

Somebody hold my earrings

Let me get that Vaseline

Cause they gon have to go through me

The lights bounced around again, finally landing on the table with Kurt, Blaine, Brittany, and Kenyatta, and they yelled out, "Baby!"

[Chorus]

I'd fight the real Loch Ness monster for my baby

I'd slay the dragon and I'll drag 'em

Cause I'm crazy

I'd scare the stripes off any calidah

You just call me and I swear

I'm right there and I'm not scared

Of lions and tigers and bears

Whoa, oh, whoa

Then the lights flickered around the room, and finally landed on the table with Sam and Mercedes, and when they looked down, they both instantly started to cry.

"Yell it out!" Maxine screamed out, with tears in her eyes, knowing what the sex of the baby was, but the other guests were waiting with baited breath.

Mercedes could barely talk, all she could do was hug Sam, and finally he mustered enough strength to yell out, "GIRL!"

The guests started cheering and pink confetti started falling from the sky. Mercedes was a mess, tears were streaming down her face, and thankfully Sam was there to hold her in his arms, because that was her safe place, and she could calm down some. She looked up at him, "I wanted a girl baby."

He smiled at her, "I know you did, and I am so in love with her already. She's going to be a daddy's girl, I'm telling you now."

Mercedes shook her head, "Oh I know, she is going to have you wrapped around her finger." The thoughts of holding her baby girl, and dressing her up in beautiful outfits, excited her and the more she thought about it, the more excited she got. "Sam, I am so glad we said yes, I feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders."

Sam took her hand, and smiled, "I am too baby girl, I mean we have been going back and forth so much, and now that we know, I feel free, and like I can properly plan for her arrival." He had a million thoughts going on in his head, "And now I can only focus on girl names." He laughed.

The rest of the party was amazing, it was a lot of people congratulating Mercedes and Sam on their baby girl, and a lot of baby gifts. "I have no idea how we are going to get all of these gifts home Sam." Mercedes questioned as she looked at the mountain of gifts they received.

He shook his head, "Neither do I, we don't have that much room in the truck."

Maxine walked over, "Do you think your mama's would not have thought of everything?"

"Exactly Max." Mary chimed in, "Don't you two worry about nothing, we got this." No sooner than she said that, a few guys walked in and started grabbing the gifts, "We got a truck outside, and the gifts will be delivered to your home."

Mercedes laughed and shook her head, "You guys really thought about everything."

"We always do, now you two go say goodbye to your guests, while we get things cleaned up here." Maxine said as she shooed them on their way.

After about an hour, the guests were gone, and the only ones sticking around was their friends who were helping with the clean up effort. Sam and Mercedes were sitting in the corner taking the sight in. Sam was rubbing Mercedes' stomach, and she was resting her head on his shoulder. "Babe…" Mercedes said.

Sam looked down at her, "Yes…"

"We are very blessed, do you know that."

He nodded, "That we are baby. I mean look at this." He pointed out to their friends and family working to clean up. "We have great people in our lives that care about us a lot, and would do things like this to make us happy."

She smiled, "That's exactly what I was thinking, I just feel so loved, and blessed to have such an amazing support system in our lives." She beamed with joy and pride, "This little girl is going to be loved by so many people."

Sam continued rubbing her belly, "Yes she is, and we are going to love her the most." He kissed her cheek, "Just like I love her mommy the most."

"And I love her daddy forever…."

"And always."

A/N: So there you have it, I hope you like it. As always, please let me know what you think, and until next time!
