There is a place one goes to find something...

There’s a place where things can be found. It’s called the internet. There’s a place where people can be found. It’s called Social Media.

Izuku likes the internet, with its videos and pictures and information, and especially it’s ever changing nature. An infinite number of truths, an infinite amount of information, right there, waiting to be accessed. The infinite number of possibilities waiting to be accessed, the infinite number of possibilities waiting for him to use them, for him to learn from.

Izuku will never be able to see them all. For every place he looks, there will be an infinite number of places he shall not. He may search and search and search and even still, it is possible that what he looks for will never be found. It is possible he shall never find the truth, that he shall spend his life searching.

Yet, Izuku persists. It’s the only thing he is able to do at this point, just move forward, move on, and hope for the best. Hope that he will find something, anything at all. For the possibility that he finds what he is searching for exists, and so he shall not falter.

He wants to falter, wants to fall back, and yet… wouldn’t that make what he came here for, what he has already done pointless? Izuku knows that it shall not, that even if he stops now, he has learned something, has found something of worth. He knows that even if it is not what he wished for, what he was looking for, it is still worth something.

It has to be somewhere. For it was not among the ash and the dust, the things left behind. Thus, it must be among the things that will never be found, the things placed out with love and care never to be used. It should be there… it has to be. Izuku wonders if it is better to be left with the ash and the dust, knowing that you had been loved, had been used even once. That to be loved and lost is better than never loved at all… but then, Izuku finds strength amongst the things he finds. For Izuku has the same hope as they, that he shall be loved, that he shall be of worth, that he will find something that makes it all worth it!

Izuku knows it’s more likely that he shall never find anything at all. That it is more likely that he shall be the same as those pages he never finds, lost to the possibilities and the what if’s, never to be discovered, used, cared for in the first place. But no, Izuku has to try.

Izuku must, or he might as well fall here.

Or, at least, that is what Izuku tells himself. That he cannot falter, that he cannot rest. That he can never go back to the bliss that was ignorance and rest, keeping that which hammers his conscious at the back of his mind. Perhaps, in another life, he could have, but he does not.

He will not. Izuku looks through the pages of the internet, the depths that few other than him will ever see, the theories and conspiracies that would have, and perhaps should have plagued his mind more than the photo would have. And yet, that is not why he is here, not his purpose, his calling.

Izuku has found purpose in the photo, and so he continues on.

People say that someone is one in a million, but that means that there are seven million other people just like that, and Izuku cannot take that chance. He has to be certain, for when he cries Wolf, he cannot be even the slightest bit shaky in his stance. Izuku already has his certainty, but he has nothing to be certain of.

He doesn’t want to falsely accuse an innocent, anyways. For then it might as well have been him who killed that man. Dooming an innocent to a fate that was never their own… would Izuku be any different than the killer wearing his face? No, Izuku doesn’t think he would be.

Izuku looks through social media, the bottomless hole that it is that he doesn’t think anyone will ever be able to drag themselves out of - nor will he. For he, like the rest in this place is dragged down like the rest of them by validation, by others telling him that he is worth it. Izuku already knows he has worth, but for another to confirm that? Well, that is a very different thing. And for one who has rarely gotten it? Well… things like that are precious.

He finds shape changers, illusionists, people who’s quirks are as varied as the stars in the night sky, quirks he will never know the ins and outs of as well as them. He looks through them all, and he discards as many people as he is able to find - either by ability or alibi.

Izuku discards the illusionists whose quirks do not show up in a camera, the shapechangers who can only change themselves in the tiniest ways. He discards those with memory manipulation, whose quirk would fade over time. He discards the children who wouldn’t be able to get there, let alone really kill a grown man. He discards the adults with full time jobs and commitments, who wouldn’t have been able to leave without someone knowing.

He discards people upon people, each with their own story to tell about that day. But their story isn’t relevant here, as much as he would like to hear it. To sit down and listen to the most mundane things in the lives of others, for even those things sound far more interesting than anything he had before.

He discards those who live too far away, those who wouldn’t have the patience or care for something like this. He looks at enough people that they fade into each other, each of them as dissimilar in concept as the last.

He discards them all, for they are not the one he is looking for. They come close, but only as close as a ten foot pole would allow. Close, but not quite. Not enough for him to be certain of.
