There is a place no different than any other...

In the city that I cannot pronounce, there’s a park a bit around the bend, not too far from Izuku’s house. It’s not that long of a walk,, but for some reason Izuku never has really visited it. Sure, it is there, and by all rights it does exist, but Izuku has never truly visited it. He might have walked by once before, but nothing he would remember.

Izuku only ever properly visits this park exactly once. He isn’t there for any particular reason, not that he is anywhere for any reason other than he wants to be there anyways, but it's the idea behind it. But for the most part, it was close by and he didn’t want to be late for dinner.

The park isn’t anything special, just a standard park that has some trees, a patch of grass, and a playground. Nothing out of place, nothing all that odd. Across the street from the park is a bank, nothing out of place there either. Just a bank, one of many. One of many banks across the city, one of many of the same bank in place across Japan.

It’s a simple thing, a light grey building with a blue awning and a sign that denotes that it’s a bank. Nothing out of place, and it looks quite nice.

Nothing weird, but something draws Izuku to it. He can’t place what draws him to that bank at the moment, but it does. For a time, he just sits there looking at the bank, sits against one of the trees that populate the park, thinking as one does when given time to stop and do nothing.

Nothing happens. Not really. A few people enter the bank, a few people leave; nothing all that weird there. Izuku just supposes that he just wanted something to look at for some time, and that would be all.

He thinks that this place might be one best left behind.

Just as Izuku is about to leave, he takes out his camera, to take a picture. One of the bank, not all that hard. He takes a picture, a simple thing, with the bank aligned to the right side, and a clear view of the alley next to it. Izuku doesn’t really pay attention to what’s happening while he takes the picture, he just does.

Taking the picture was not difficult. Looking at it later is. For in that alley, standing over a body, blood on their clothes and blood on a knife, is himself. His face stares back at him, and he doesn’t know anymore.

That wasn’t him, and yet - it clearly is. That person looks far too close for him to be comfortable, far too similar for him to say that it wasn’t him, could not possibly be him. For as it appears to anyone else, it quite possibly could be. He was there, correct? He appears in the photo, right? There’s no reason that it couldn’t be him other than he was the one taking the photo, but who would back him up with that?

Izuku knows that there’s an easy fix to this, a very simple one. Just destroy the photo, and leave behind the fact that it ever happened. Just erase the picture, burn it, scatter it to pieces and leave the whole event behind. He doesn’t have to forget this happened, exactly, but… he really shouldn’t keep the picture.

Izuku doesn’t think he can leave this behind. He doesn’t think he can just have things stay as they are. He wants the truth, he wants to know what happened. He knows what he is, and whoever’s in this picture isn’t him. It isn’t him.

There’s a park by Izuku’s house, not too far with a bank across the street. Next to that bank, in a dark alley, a body is discovered. Nobody knows who the killer is. For all means, it’s a cold case, no leads to be followed.

Izuku has a lead. He knows what the killer looks like, by all means they were caught red-handed. But, it’s not him. By all means, Izuku should leave this event behind. Izuku can't leave this behind. Not yet.
