Been quite a bit since we had any SU Collection stuff, and after Change Your Mind, I'm kind of shocked without for not immediately bringing us back into the fusion space, lol. Anyway, here we are once again for #ThankYouPatrons Day ^^ so here we are once again.
The Fusion Space had been a buzz lately from all the new fusions that had been cropping up. Space and time were a bit distorted in the realm where fusions lay when not in use, and so from the perspective of the fusions, Rainbow Quartz 2.0, Sun Stone, and Obsidian all appeared nearly simultaneously; the most recent being Steg some time after; though not nearly as long as it had been in the physical world.
Steg was the most confused and surprised by the place, having the same human confusions about the location as Stevonnie had when they had appeared; if less anxiety, as Steg seemed to exude confidence in basically everything he did. Stevvonie offered to show him around, to which Steg gave two thumbs up.
Stevonnie chuckled at this and began to explain to Steg how the fusion space worked, showing how all the fusions had their own unique personalities and minds, and while it didn't always take hold when the fusion was formed out in the physical world, it did always exist. Steg, with Steven's energy and excitement, but Greg's lack of knowledge on gems, was practically wide eyed with curiosity about the different fusions.
He certainly recognized Opal, who was more than happy to join Steg for a dance when she saw him; evidently forgetting quite immediately that she'd been in the middle of a game of chess with Smokey.
hether this was more from Opal's lack of short term memory or Steg's overwhelming presence couldn't really be determined, but Smokey didn't mind, as watching them dance and float was far more interesting than chess.
Sardonyx and Sugulite were a bit more intense for Steg, and he decided to leave the two twenty foot high women to their bickering; something Stevonnie assured was the correct course of action and left quickly with.
Surprisingly Alexandrite and Obsidian were both less intense, at least with each other, the former simply greeting Steg and Stevonnie as they passed while the latter said nothing at all, seeming more intent on just watching the fusions.
Stevonnie kept Steg away from Malachite and Zebra Jasper, figuring that was a recipe for conflict. Stevonnie assured him that Malachite at least wasn't quite so murdery here in the fusion space, and they were probably just... Stevonnie trailed off at this, suddenly seeming a bit embarrassed.
Then, quick as the sheepishness came, it vanished. Steg saw the grin spread across Stevonnie's face as they had an idea, but decided not to ask, figuring it would be better to see for himself. He let Stevonnie take his hand and lead him through the fusion space to Rainbow Quartz; old and new.
To everyone's surprise, original Rainbow Quartz hadn't vanished or been replaced or turned into Rainbow 2,0. She was still there in the fusion space when the new Rainbow Quartz arrived. Some of the fusions had assumed this would be rather awkward, or could even lead to some kind of rivalry or bitterness between the two.
Thankfully, the new Rainbow was far too sweet, and the former too caring for that to happen, and instead the two seemed to bond quite fast, getting along like a house on fire.
To the point that old Rainbow seemed to have all but adopted 2.0 as a sort of son. Stevonnie's grin only grew wider when Steg saw original Rainbow Quartzs, his eyes growing the widest they'd been yet.
It was perhaps the first time the fusion had been speechless; though given they'd only existed for a day and a half that perhaps wasn't a massive deal.
Regardless, Stevonnie went over to Rainbow 2.0 and lead him away from the area. When asked why they were leaving, Stevonnie cheekily just said, "To give mom and dad some alone time~" they snickered.
The younger Rainbow was still a little confused by this, but decided not to question it further, simply following his 'sister' so to speak out of the area.
Steg could hardly find words to say to Rainbow Quartz, lost in her eyes and the... generally powerful presence she had. After a few moments of silence, it became evident that she was just as lost in his. Steg broke the silence with a simple, "Haven't I seen you somewhere before?" This brought a snicker out of the colorful fusion, and like that they were talking for ages.
They talked about music, about gem powers, about how weird the fusion space was, about everything and nothing, anything. After lord only knew given how the fusion space worked, Rainbow Quartz gave a small blush as she noticed the time. "There's something of a... tradition here in the fusion space. Maybe just a passtime I suppose. Every night the fusions come together and... have some fun together."
Steg caught on fast, and understood why Stevonnie had gotten so sheepish when discussing what Malachite was likely up to. "You don't have to of course, but-" Rainbow was cut off by Steg pulling her in close, "Sounds like a good way to get to know the folks around here," He said confidently with a smile that sent a shiver up her spine, "But if you don't mind, I think I'd like to keep you to myself for awhile first~"
Rainbow smiled wide, arms snaking around his body to keep herself close to him, "Took the words right out of my mouth~"
Yes I'm aware I'm retconing a bit with both Rainbow's still existing at the same time, but in my defense... past me is stupid and should not be listened to XD
